Sharon has always known that she wanted to make art her profession. Since the age of five, she carried paper and pencil in hand in hopes of creating a masterpiece. Sharon was born in Pensacola, and raised in Norwalk Connecticut and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
After graduating, she went on to become a graphic designer for various design studios, and finally developed her own Graphic design studios in Connecticut, then returned to Florida as an adult. Design is her background but painting is her passion.
Several years ago she lived in Juno Beach and then Key West for a short time. In those years Sharon was inspired to paint the backstreets of the Key West cottages, guest’s homes, local bars and beaches with the turquoise blue water.
She paints everyday in her distinct representational style with bold bright happy pallet. Her tropical home paintings and tropical serene settings will draw you in to a happy place.
Sharon has won many awards for some of her finest paintings throughout her journey as a fine artist. Her art has been chosen for book covers, placemats, doormats and other promotional items.
Sharon has accomplished in her portfolio several commemorative posters for local art fests. She aspires to add many more award winning poster designs to her collection.
This poster will be her 12th, celebrating the 2010 Lake Mary Fine Arts Festival to be held in November 6th & 7th.
Her studio is now located in Deland, Florida. Sharon devotes all her time painting there and at the Gateway Center of the Arts teaching acrylic painting and techniques to juniors as well as adults.
Sharon is a member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. You can see her work at some of the finest central and south Florida’s art shows.
Artist Statement:
"Art is the expression of feeling through the application of my creative techniques. My new style gives me the freedom to explore my inner feelings with the use of color, textures, gels medium and objects."
"I was always been known for my Key West Houses and Tropical Beach Scenes. My newer paintings have taken me in a new direction. Some of my newer paintings are called exploding palms that fill the canvas with movement and color. I have more fun, freedom and creativeness to see what will evolve."
